Arvind tops for energy conservation in textile sector during 2014

Arvind Limited, denim major ranked first among 70 textiles players scrutinized the Ministry of Power on the National Energy Conservation Day on 14 December 2014. Arvind achieved nearly 22 percent reduction in specific consumption in thermal energy and 18 percent reduction in power usage from last financial year in the textile sector.

The company bagged National Energy Conservation Award 2014 of the Ministry of Power, Government of India on Sunday.

The apparel and textile sector showing signs of improvement despite continuous challenges that have brought a number of textile players to their knees as they continue to remind determined to survive the Nigerian environment.

In the first half of 2013 (H1 2013), capacity utilisation in the sector was 37.4 percent. But by the second half (H2 2013), this had risen to 44.9 percent as per data from the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN).
