The delay in reintroducing the textile policy poses a big challenge to the Pakistan textile sector to deal with the global buyers for the coming seasons. The entire textile sector is under stress for want of a policy and held up in midway to carry on their global trade especially with the EU under the GSP Plus regime as the textile policy lapsed last month. The policy that helps the industry boost.

The ministry of textiles, through its regional office, Navi Mumbai, is hosting a two-day buyer-seller meet for the first time for creating ‘Brand Malegaon’. Though the ministry has organized such meeting at various textile clusters at regular intervals, this is the first time that such an event is being organized in Malegaon. It is a move to boost the efforts of the textile commissioner's office, in association with Malegaon Industries' & Manufacturers' Association (MIMA).

The Pakistan Textile exports for the period July-March 2013-14 has show a 8 percent raise, while exports in all value added categories has increased considerably i.e. bed wear by 21 percent, hosiery by 10 percent and readymade garments by 9 percent. Increase in textile exports followed due to the disbursement of Rs.3.5 billion by the government for the textile sector in shape of drawbacks, export finance support and mark up support, according to one year performance report of the government.

During the previous year 2012-13 only Rs. 2 billion was provided by the Government.

The Bangladeshi apparel exporters are also facing arduous conditions, especially in respect of compliances of work-place safety and labour rights, both from their traditional exporting destinations the EU and the US. The apparel makers need to adopt market diversification move without compromising the existing safety-compliance issues for the sake of greater sustainability of the industry.

In fact, the country's readymade garment (RMG) exporters have no other alternative but to diversify their markets in order to reduce dependency on limited markets.

Egyptian ready made garment industry road show help win orders from international brand

The Egyptian garment sector has an important role and accounts a big part in its economy. At an event in Manhattan, New York, around 28 Egyptian ready-made apparel companies presented the case for investing in garment production in Egypt. The advantages in quality, design, relatively low-cost labor, warehousing and vertical manufacturing have won Egypt's 260 ready-made garment manufacturers orders from well-known international brand names as Aeropostale, Calvin Klein, Disney, Gap, Hanes brands, J.C. Penney, Macy's, Nautica, Timberland and Zara.
