Yarn prices in India stayed unchanged or slightly increased in the third week of October.

While PSF and VSF prices rolled over, cotton prices have rebounded INR100-500 per candy during the week, although they were significantly lower than in September.

In India, 30s (65/35) PV yarn prices were up US cents 2 a kg, due to stronger INR, in Indore market. In Ludhiana, PC 30s (52/48) prices were also up US cent 1 a kg on the week.

In Qianqing, PC (65/35) 32s yarn prices remained unchanged on the week while 21s were steady.

In India, 30s (65/35) PV yarn prices moderated again by INR1 and by INR3 since mid September, however, in US terms, prices were up US cents 2 a kg due to stronger INR in Indore market in the second week of October. In Ludhiana, PC 30s (52/48) prices were up US cent 1 a kg on the week.

Blended yarn prices have further fallen in India during the week, due to lack of demand and decline in cotton and polyester prices early in the month.

Polyester-cotton yarn prices lost INR2 in the week whereas spun polyester prices were staying unchanged.

In Qianqing, PC (65/35) 32s yarn prices were up US cent 1 a kg and 21s were also up US cent 1 a kg in the last week of September.

Offers for polyester-cotton yarn held flat amid favorable sales in China, while selling ideas were reported stable for polyester-viscose yarn amid mute transactions.

Downstream, fabric markets sustained their stable movements, and trading activities are expected to remain steady in coming weeks.

With cotton prices falling sharply in India and downward revision in polyester fibre prices earlier in September, blended spun yarn prices moderated in similar proportion in the fourth week of September. PC yarn prices fell 2.6 per cent week on week while PV yarns were cheaper by INR 1 a kg.

In Qianqing, PC (65/35) 32s yarn prices rolled over while 21s were up US cent 1 a kg in the third week of September. Blended yarn markets sentiment held firm during the week, with prices largely unchanged in China. However, PSF prices were on the downtrend whereas VSF prices were increasing further. In the first week of September, polyester-viscose prices in China have increased in line with a continued increase of viscose fiber prices. Any rise of fibre prices, spinners were feeling that demand was recovering as usual in this part of the year. Import yarn prices are down in Yuan terms and demand was therefore returning to normal on the lower end of the market. In Pakistan, polyester-cotton yarn prices declined as PSF and cotton prices were subdued in recent weeks. Overall, with textile production progressively returning to a seasonal high, demand for fiber was improving. 24 PC (52/48) carded yarn prices in Pakistan fell US cents 9 a kg on the week on the Faisalabad market while 30s were down US cents 12.

Blended yarn prices were clearly falling across China, India and Pakistan in the second week of August as cost eased with falling fibre prices while demand remained weak. The depreciation of the Yuan and weak INR pushed prices further down in US$ terms.

PC yarn prices, although declined marginally in India and Pakistan, they were sharply down in China. And this may trigger price revision in the former two markets. However with textile production to enter seasonal high, demand may recover to support prices.
