Chinese group keen to enter JVs for upgradation of Pak spinning mills

Chinese group has shown keen interest to enter joint ventures for modernisation and upgradation of Pakistan's spinning mills to make them cost efficient and competitive. Also 80 percent of yarn and other textile products will be re-exported to China for value-addition to sell the finished good at better prices in international market, Pakistani businessmen were informed by Executive Director of the Hi-Tech Group who is leading a six member delegation.

A seminar on "Doing Business with Pakistan" was held on 21st Decemebr in Kuala Lumpur, jointly organized by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and High Commission of Pakistan Malaysia saw participation of over 200 Malaysian companies and Pakistani businessmen. High Commissioner of Pakistan in Malaysia, Syed Hassan Raza at the seminar said that both countries Pakistan and Malaysia to facilitate businesses under the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) are negotiating to further reduce duties on existing and additional tariff lines.

Ukrainian Ambassador to Pakistan Volodymyr Lakomov on Sunday said that Ukraine was in the process of signing about a dozen agreements with Pakistan thereby providing a level playing field to the investors from both the sides, besides enhancing science and technologies, education, cultural and trade relations.

The current trade volume between the two countries was $500 million and steps were in hand to enhance the same. Pakistan and Ukraine can easily boost their existing trade volume to new heights by exploring non-traditional avenues.
