Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani at the inauguaration of Textile Sector Buyer-Seller meet and launch of Power Tex portal and mobile app in Bengaluru. It will help provide information about various schemes and incentives of the textile ministry. On this occassion, the textile ministry has assured a Rs. 100 crore Textile Park for Karnataka and asked the State Government to provide land for the textile park.

The announcement of Textile park by the textile minister was welcomed by the textile industry in Bengaluru on Sunday.

National Handloom Development Corporation Ltd (NHDC) keeping in view the Digital India Initiative of Government of India and for the benefit of handloom weavers and society has developed a handy tool, a mobile app 'E Dhaga'.

The app ‘W Dhaga’ will benefit handloom weavers to transact business anytime, anywhere and they can send their indents and payments online through this app. The weavers can also access the status of the shipment of the despatched material, thereby, enhancing transparency.

Raymond to invest Rs20cr in e-commerce venture which will include mobile apps

Raymond, the 89-year-old men's textile and apparel maker, would be investing Rs 20 crore to develop the e-commerce venture and has put in place a separate team. It is also coming up with a full-fledged virtual platform that will include mobile apps.

For this initiative, Raymond's flamboyant chairman Gautam Singhania has brought on board Vijay Basrur, a digital specialist who has had stints with startups like Quikr and Bazee.com.
