At lint market although buyers remained focused on better grades but higher demand for second of lint kept trading activities moderate amid firm physical prices. Second grade of lint fetched better price as buyers bought all grades on cautious note, floor brokers said.

Better grades of lint remained in demand on back of depleting stocks and demand for other grades of lint would not gain momentum, as buyers were eyeing influx of better cottonseed in the ginneries.

With improved demand for better grades and tight cottonseed arrival to ginneries due to dull picking and slower arrival of fine grades kept trading in Punjab and Sindh stations selective on grade issue, while volumes of second grade of lint remained on higher side, besides prices of all grades remained at the hands of sellers on back of shrinking stocks, traders said.

The ginning units remained confident on paucity of better cottonseed arrival that pushed general prices on firm footing, said floor brokers.

Leading buyer remained cautious in making any big deal as they only made deals on selective note depending on grade issue and their immediate need of lint in anticipation of decline in spot rate during trading session and with firm physical prices at lint market, fibre traders said.

Forward trading for a month period also took place, traders at the Karachi Cotton Association (KCA) said. KCA kept the spot rate intact at Rs 6,800 per maund in order to provide support to weak stakeholders of raw grade to ward off minimal price level.

At the cotton market, the prices of all grades of cotton stood firm during the trading session, according to traders. Around 9,600 bales changed hands.
The Karachi Cotton Association (KCA) spot rate remained intact at Rs 6,850 per maund with better lint in focus, fibre traders reported.

Floor brokers said that leading buyers in Sindh and Punjab stations bought better grade lint on premium prices offered by ginners during the trading session.

Moderate trading seen at the lint market with firm physical prices, while buyers made deals on slightly higher prices. Forward deals also changed hands for better grades of lint on slightly higher price at around Rs6,600 per maund in Sindh and Punjab stations. The Karachi Cotton Association (KCA) kept the spot rate at Rs 6,700 per maund.

According to floor brokers, buyers made deals for all grades besides deals for better and second grade of lint for blending purpose remained firm and deals changed hands at around Rs 6,575 per maund to Rs 7,000 per maund during the trading session.
