OECD, CNTAC signs MoU to strengthen China garment partnership

The China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with OECD to intensify co-operation and promote responsible business practices in global textile and apparel supply chains. This deal was struck at the OECD Forum on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector in Paris.

The agreement forms part of a broader framework of co-operation between the People’s Republic of China and the OECD on responsible business conduct, and has been described as a direct outcome of the China-OECD Joint Programme of Work from 2015-16.

Chinese textile industry seeks to operate more sustainably and reduce its environmental footprint over the next decade according to Mr Sun Ruizhe, president of the China National Textile & Apparel Council (CNTAC).

The sector using innovation to move towards the production of higher added value products and technical textiles and it will drive environmental improvement in the textile industry.

WGSN host Chinese fashion and textile industry delegation at NY Fashion Week

At the New York Fashion Week 2015 which began yesterday, a delegation from China’s fashion and textile industry led by China Textile Information Center (CTIC), which serves China’s huge and growing fashion and textile industry of over 20,000 companies was hosted by WGSN, the global foresight business specializing in consumer, fashion and design trends and insights.

The delegation comprised of some of the country's largest garment manufacturers and up-and-coming apparel retailers. More than 20 representatives are part of the China's fashion and textile industry delegation.

India, China hopeful of increasing textile trade volume, to focus on made-ups

A high-level delegation from China, led by Wang Tiankai, president, China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC) is on visit to India to explore the possibility of increasing trade between the two countries in textile sector. After recording a 108% increase in cotton and yarn imports from India in 2013 both India and China are hopeful that the volume of trade will increase in the coming years. The delegation is on a two-day visit to Coimbatore and had earlier visited New Delhi, Baroda and Mumbai and explored the trade opportunities in textile sector.
