India Chile expanded PTA to immensely benefit exporters of both sides

India and Chile had signed an agreement on expansion of India-Chile Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) on September 6, 2016 which be be implemented from May 16, 2017, facilitating exporters of both sides to take the advantage of tariff concessions as per the expanded PTA immediately which covers around 96 percent of bilateral trade.

Chile is the fourth largest trading partner of India in LAC region after Brazil, Venezuela and Argentina.

During a meeting of Italian Vice Foreign Minister Benedetto DettaVedova, with Federal Minister for Commerce, Engr. Khurram Dastgir Khan on Tuesday, the two countries Pakistan and Italy came to an agreement on providing institutional foundation for strengthening trade and professional linkages through Joint Business Council and interaction between Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry with Italian counterpart.

The two sides discussed avenues to establish institutional mechanism to enhance mutual trade and investment.

Pakistan’s bilateral trade with Turkey grew at good pace and crossed one billion dollar mark in 2010-11, but it started declining after the imposition of safeguard duties in August 2011 by Turkey to protect its domestic industry. The Government of Pakistan had been raising the issue at the highest level with the Turkish officials, but there had been no developments.
