Primark and H&M to purchase parts of their orders from Morocco

The Moroccan textile sector is expected to be one of the key factors in the fast-fashion industry. According to the Moroccan Association for the Textile and Clothing Industries (AMITH), president, Karim Tazi and also founder of Marwa group for the first time, they are collaborating with new brands such as the Swedish brand H&M, as well as the Irish company Primark.

H&M and Primark considered as prime contractors with already several large orders to execute will purchase parts of their orders from Morocco. This decision is likely to create 20,000 additional jobs in the textile sector.

A partnership agreement has been signed between Karim Tazi, president of AMITH (the Moroccan Association for the Textile and Clothing Industries) and Michael Scherpe, President of Messe Frankfurt France to promote the Moroccan textile industry on an international scale.

The eighth largest supplier of clothing and textiles to the European Union in 2015 with exports worth EUR 2.54 thousand million, 2.3 billion of which was clothing, the clothing and textile industry is said to be a key sector for socio-economic equilibrium in Morocco.

The Moroccan Association of Textile and Clothing (AMITH) is an important player in the Moroccan economy with more than 850 members has entered into a performance agreement as per the terms the textile industry to increase exports to 464 million and is also committed to create 90,000 jobs by 2020. The agreement was signed at the end of February.

The agreement was signed in the framework of the 2014 -2020 industrial Acceleration Plan, launched in April 2014. A total of 57 projects led by industry-leading companies were identified and the sector has also pledged to increase exports.
