Acrylonitrile prices fell for the first time in Asian markets since early March due to resumed supply and weak buying sentiment, though the downtrend is likely to remain limited. Trading remained thin amid weak sentiment while feedstock propylene fell on the week.

Acrylonitrile prices edged down in Asian markets, after remaining firm past four weeks, as demand weakened from downstream acrylic fibre makers while upstream propylene cost declined sharply.

Ascend Performance Materials will raise acrylonitrile and other intermediates prices by several cents from mid-September, it said a letter to customers. Export spot assessment was up US$15 a ton FOB USG on the week.
In Europe, acrylonitrile prices rose on support of downstream ABS markets and rising butadiene prices. European acrylonitrile was up US$15 a ton on the week.
