Nylon yarn price moves up in China

YarnsandFibers News Bureau, 12-04-2016 12:40 -

In China, semi-dull FDY70D/24F prices increased US cents 4-7 a kg in the last week of March while FDY40D rose US cents 3-7 a kg. Nylon DTY 70D/24F prices were up US cents 5 a kg while 30D/10F prices rolled over on the week.

Monofilament 30D prices inched up on the week while 1.5D staple fiber rose US cents 7-10 a kg during the week.

The past inventory built-up by nylon filament yarn makers have been restraining prices to go up in spite of firming caprolactum and nylon chips cost. Nylon yarn makers had ramped up operating rate with expectation that fundamentals will become favorable.

Meanwhile, cord fabric makers were still struggling to reach operating margins. Downstream circular‐knitting mills, weaving mills and covering mills operated at modest capacities on the back of better demand from replenishment season.

With rigid demand for staple fiber, fishing‐net yarn, monofilament and cord fabric, the outlook was still upbeat.
