Nylon yarn price declines in line with raw material cost

YarnsandFibers News Bureau, 04-04-2017 16:40 -

In China, FDY70D/24F SD prices declined US cents 30 a kg in the fourth week of March, while FDY40D were down US cents 43 a kg on the week. DTY 70D/24F prices fell US cents 30 a kg while 30D/10F declined US cents 20 a kg on the week.

Monofilament 30D prices dipped US cents 21 a kg while nylon staple fiber 1.5D prices fell US cents 36 a kg during the week.

Nylon filament yarn prices drifted lower in line with falling caprolactum and nylon chip costs. The market also lacked strength and edged down on relieved cost pressure. Demand remained modest as downstream converters maintained stable production. However, some buyers were cautious to follow-up on the back of ample stock built earlier and flat raw materials.

Warp‐knitting, weaving and AJ covering sectors operated at 70‐90% while, circular‐knitting mills and lacing mills ran at 50‐70% capacities. Fishing‐net yarn, monofilament, staple fiber and cord fabric makers stood on the sidelines amid cautious sentiment.
