Asian MEG prices plummeted US$65 a ton CFR China and CFR South East Asia in the fourth week of March. Mono ethylene glycol prices plummeted on the week due to weak downstream demand, while domestic prices in China also followed suit. In China, domestic market was weak with prices under downward correction. Trading sentiment was moderate amid weak buying interest.
In US, market fundamentals continued to hold as turnarounds and shutdowns suppressing supply. Spot prices edged lower on the week as demand was heard thinning in a lightly traded market. April contract price was also heard moving lower.
European MEG prices were stable week on week although Asian prices collapsed and demand remained soft, as prices moved sideways on the week.
