Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani launched PowerTex India scheme, a comprehensive power-loom development scheme in Bhiwandi district of Maharashtra that will benefit the small powerloom weaver’s to survive. For Upgradation of powerloom sector she announced that government has increased subsidy by 30 percent.

On the occasion, Irani said that Bhiwandi will be known for resurgence in powerloom sector. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed them to start the scheme before March end so that people get the benefit from April.

In a meeting held between textile commissioner Kiran Soni Gupta and members of man-made fabric industry of the city on Wednesday discussed over various issues ranging from TUFS, indigenous manufacturing of textile machinery, skilled manpower requirements, yarn bank, etc. Also design of the textile cluster in Surat was the major point of discussion.
