Sateri Holdings Limited has set up a new viscose staple fiber (“VSF”) plant in Fujian, China having four identical production lines, each with an annual design capacity of 50,000 metric tons, making a total annual design capacity of 200,000 metric tons.

The Company believes that the commencement of this new state-of-the-art VSF plant will significantly boost the scale and competitive positioning of its VSF business in China.

viscose textile markets in Asia continued to remain on the weaker trend and discussions mostly softened in China in the viscose staple fibre segment with downstream players still consuming raw material inventory amid bearish yarn market. Some spinners even reduced buying and were seeking lower priced goods amid the sluggish sentiment.

Grasim Industries said the work at greenfield viscose staple fibre project has been hampered due to unexpected floods at Vilayat in Gujarat in the last week of September. This will affect the project commissioning schedule, it said.  
Further the company said the operations at chemical plant are also suspended due to floods affecting the plant and power supply. 'This, however, is not likely to have any significant impact on the company's profitability, considering the present contribution of this plant to overall profitability.
