Korea has shown interest to help establish Technical Textile Center at the National University of Textiles Faisalabad for which she is willing to provide Rs 600 million in technical assistance, machines, equipments and manpower training.

An official source said the government would have to provide only Rs 60 million to functionalise the center at the NTU Faisalabad. The funding is likely to be provided at the start of next fiscal year. The project will help initiate and establish the emerging field of technical textiles industry in Pakistan.

The China International Trade Fair for Technical Textiles and Nonwovens Cinte Techtextil China, Asia’s leading biennial trade fair for technical textile and nonwoven products, is keen on inviting the fresh participant for its new session this year.

For the first time, a national seminar on 'Product variants in technical textiles with special reference to small scale industrial sector' to be held on February 27. According to a press release from The Regional Office of the Textile Commissioner, Kiran Soni Gupta, the In-Situ Upgradation Scheme for Plain Power Looms was launched in Somanur cluster and so far, 107 units (totally 800 power looms) had benefited and obtained Rs. 87.28 lakh subsidy under the scheme. The units get Rs. 15,000 maximum subsidy to upgrade each power loom.

They have requested that the scheme should be expanded pan India and should be available to all power loom units, irrespective of the number of looms.
