The NIFT-TEA Knitwear Fashion Institute, Tiruppur, India signs a memorandum of understanding with Synthetic and Arts Silk Mills Research (SASMIRA) to develop waterless cotton fabric dyeing technology uses liquefied carbon dioxide instead of water.

Advanced appliance for dyeing cotton fabrics would be similar to machines earlier developed for dyeing polyesters which uses liquefied carbon dioxide instead of water, states R. R. Shrinivasan, Chairman, Academic Committee, NIFT-TEA Institute.

NIFT-TEA Knitwear Fashion Institute promoted by Tirupur garment exporters will take up with Synthetic and Arts Silk Mills Research (SASMIRA) to develop a gadget for dyeing ‘cotton fabrics’ without using water and also draft a curriculum on agro textiles.The technological innovations were planned as part of the collaborative projects.

NIFT-TEA Institute and SASMIRA signed a Memorandum of Understanding recently to promote development of new products, research activities and information exchange on new technologies.

A seminar on “Agro textiles: Holistic alternative to enhance yield and profitability of Horticulture and Agriculture” was organized in association with the State Horticulture Department with the purpose of educating the people about Agro-textile usage and its benefits and various financial and technical supports to be provided under the scheme.

The seminar was held at Horticulture Research Farm, Pfutsero, Phek, under the Ministry of Textiles Scheme for “Promoting Usage of Agro-textiles in North East Region” on May 16.
