India likely to miss achieving the USD 48 billion target for textiles and garment exports for 2016-17, as the government admitted it may be hard to achieve, mainly due fall in demand in major markets such as the US, EU and China.

Poland has a long history of garment production. However, for the past few years, this branch of the industry has been systematically shrinking. The majority of Polish garment factories realise foreign orders, the number of which is thinning due to the higher costs of production in Poland compared to other countries, especially in Asia.

Indian International Fabric Expo (IIFE) 2014 a three day exhibition to be held in Ahmedabad to develop and promote the exports of Indian textile products. International buyers from the SAARC, ASEAN, African, European and American countries are expected to visit the trade show.

The event is hosted by Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council (PDEXCIL) with support from the Union Ministry of Textile and under the Market Assistant Initiative Scheme of the Union Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
