MEG prices decline in Asia while stable in US, Europe

Asian MEG markers were down US$14 a ton CFR China in the fourth week of March. Sabic nominated its April Asia contract price which was up US$110 a ton from March.

Mono ethylene glycol markets in Asia rolled back the significant gains of previous week early in the week. However, they gained over the last two days of the week, limiting the weekly fall.

Sabic nominated April contract price significantly up from March seeing spot gaining over the past 10 weeks in a row up to the previous week.

MEG price jumps on tight supply

Asian MEG markers surged US$17 a ton CFR China in the third week of March. In China, nearby-month goods were offered at US$725 a ton and bid at US$720 a ton. Forward-month goods were quoted at US$740 a ton, with bids at US$725-730 a ton.

Mono ethylene glycol prices rose in Asian markets on firmer futures in China rising crude values while plant issues tightened supplies.

MEG price rises to three-month high amid tight supply in US

In US, MEG market remained on upward trend in the second week of March reaching three-month high on tighter supply as maintenance activity provided pricing support. US spot MEG increased US cents 1.50 per pound FOB USG on the week.

In Europe, MEG spot prices were up on tight availability amid stable demand and limited imports. European MEG edged up Euro10 a ton FCA NEW on the week.

MEG prices surge on tight supply

Asian MEG markers surged US$18 a ton CFR China and CFR South East Asia in the first week of March posting a rise of US$36 on the month.

In China, offers were pushed above US$700 a ton, while buyers showed low interest to buy goods priced at above US$680 a ton.

Mono ethylene glycol market sentiment turned bullish and prices surged early in the week on news of continuing plant issues across China, Taiwan and the Middle East.

MEG price climbs on tight supply in Asia

Asian MEG markers spurted US$15 a ton CFR China and CFR South East Asia in the last week of February. In China, offers stayed high, and discussions and trading values picked up accordingly.

Post midweek values were hard to rush higher, with numbers weakening US$5-10 a ton. Weekend saw values recovering to the early week levels.

Mono ethylene glycol prices moved up in Asian markets on the week due to continued supply tightness and support from firming ethylene cost. Upcoming plant maintenance are likely to support MEG markets in coming weeks.

MEG price gains across all regions

Asian MEG markers were up US$37 a ton CFR China and CFR South East Asia in the third week of February.

In China, offers jumped straight to US$660 a ton, and bids followed up to about US$630 a ton.

Mono ethylene glycol prices jumped notably after the holiday buoyed by the restocking requirement in Asian markets and recovering from a downward trend during the holidays.

Asian MEG market witnesses thin activity, prices roll over

Asian MEG markers rolled over in the second week of February with CFR China assessed at US$610-605 a ton while CFR South East Asia was at US$613-617 a ton.

In China, nearby-month cargoes were quoted at about US$590 a ton, with counter offers at US$580-585 a ton and forward-month goods US$5 a ton higher.

Mono ethylene glycol markets in Asia witnessed extremely thin activity amid the Lunar New Year holidays, with participants across South Korea, Taiwan and Southeast Asia were either on holiday or not trading.

MEG price recovers on tight supply in Europe

European MEG prices recovered Euro40 a ton FCA NWE on tighter supply in the first week of February.

MEG spot in Europe rebounded on tighter supply as Ineos stopped offering ending several weeks of decline.

Asian MEG markers were up US$9 a ton CFR China and South East Asia on the week.

In China, nearby-month cargoes were quoted at about US$590 a ton, with counter offers at US$580-585 a ton. Forward-month goods were US$5 a ton higher over nearby-month quotes.

MEG prices surge on bullish market sentiments

Asian MEG markers gained US$33 a ton CFR China and CFR South East Asia in the last week of January.

In China, discussions and trading price for nearby-month cargoes were between US$570-575 a ton early in the week, which were hiked to US$585-590 a ton midweek, with higher offers for forward-month at US$600-605 a ton.

Mono ethylene glycol prices in Asian markets surged on the week as sentiments turned bullish with news of various plant issues across Taiwan and the Middle East.

MEG price gains as crude oil price rebounds

Asian MEG markers gained US$18 CFR China and CFR South East Asia in the third week of January.

In China, MEG values inched down in first half on weak crude oil price, and negotiations fell to US$540 a ton. As crude rose MEG prices surged US$20 a ton in the second half of the week.

Mono ethylene glycol prices surged in Asian markets as crude oil rebound and MEGlobal immediately limiting MEG supply to Asian customers for an unspecified period due to a shortage of feedstock at its plants in Kuwait.

In US, spot MEG prices hovered at 78-month low while demand remained on an average.
