India has been declared the winner of "Best Country Award" for exhibit curated by IMG Reliance at the International Fashion Showcase (IFS) during London Fashion Week, yet another benchmark for Indian fashion and design industry. The British Council, British Fashion Council (BFC) and Mercedes-Benz announced India as the winner of "International Fashion Showcase Country Award" at a prize-giving ceremony at Somerset House, London, beating 25 other nations judged by a panel of industry experts.

Young Arunachali designer Yana Ngoba by showcasing his collection of dresses, gowns and jacket woven on a loin or back strap loom – a domestic fixture for a majority of tribes at the London Fashion Week in September has taken the ancient loin loom of northeast at the global level.

The clothes were an instant hit with buyers from the UK and Nigeria who were surprised to know that there was more to Indian fashion than the sari and lehenga. The loin loom -about as wide as a desktop keyboard -is attached to the body of the weaver with a back strap (hence the name).

Malaysian batik will be seen on catwalk of London fashion week

First time Malaysian batik will be seen on the catwalk of London Fashion Week, to be held from Sept 18 to 22. British fashion designer Zandra Rhodes is collaborating with Kraftangan Malaysia for a Malaysian textile development programme in London which will culminate during London Fashion Week.

Zandra Rhodes who is known to have dressed many in the who's who list - from Princess Diana to supermodel Kate Moss - will feature batik at the London Fashion Week.

Taiwanese fashion designer Apu Jan made his fifth appearance at LFW

London Fashion Week is well underway with over 250 designers showcasing their work to a global audience of media and retailers. It is Britain’s biggest biannual consumer fashion showcase and once again London-based Taiwanese fashion designer Apu Jan made his fifth appearance at London Fashion Week with an autumn and winter collection that features his signature knitwear.

Deep In The Woods collection features 33 designs, all using fabrics jointly developed with Taiwanese textile companies and accessories made using 3-D printing.
