India to enter MoU with QTEC of Japan for quality compliance

With Indian textile and clothing industry aiming to increase its exports to Japan, the government has decided to enter into an MoU with Japan Textile Products Quality and Technology Centre (QTEC) through the Textiles Committee to jointly set up and encourage quality compliance activities to comply with quality requirements of the Japanese market, the Textiles Ministry said.

QTEC provides facilities for quality evaluation, standardisation, technology evaluation, conformity assessment, technical guidance and education, factory certification for the textile industry of Japan.

Vietnamese-made textile products at present enjoy a preferential tariff in Japan due to ASEAN+1 (ASEAN plus Japan) and the Vietnam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement as similar items from China are subject to 15-20% tariffs.

Preferential tariffs may no longer be a competitive advantage for Vietnamese goods over those from China in the Japanese and South Korean markets after the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement is signed.

TDAP organizes workshop to further boost textile exports into Japanese market

Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) learning that $ 90 million worth of textile products mostly raw material such as cotton yarn is exported to Japan held a workshop in collaboration with Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) to provide valuable information through expertise to boost further exports to Japanese market on Wednesday.
