GCCI president urging the Central government to consider implementing a uniform textile policy across the country in line with GST

Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani exuded confidence that the textile sector is capable of strengthening rural economy and create large-scale employment on the occasion. He added that that his government is working towards building robust infrastructure to ensure that cotton produced by farmers gets consumed by the garment industry in the state, saving time and energy to export it.

Shailesh Patwari, president, GCCI said that, estimates by GCCI indicate that despite being the second largest cotton producing country in the world, the yield of cotton per hectare in India is less than half of what it is in China, Australia and US. “The new model will help farmers in reducing their production costs while increasing their income as well as yield. Collective efforts will give them access to a bigger land and reduce their costs of adopting new technology and scientific assistance.

Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) had a meeting on Wednesday with Bangladesh deputy high commissioner, Mohammad Lutfor Rahmam at the GCCI premises to discuss the possibilities of exploring a business collaboration in the textile sector of Bangladesh.

Shailesh Patwari, president of GCCI said that they are organizing a global textile summit in Ahmedabad this March and has invited Bangladesh to become a partner country for the same.
