Rise in global yarn production by 30pc in first quarter of 2017

Rise in global yarn production seen by nearly 30 percent during the first quarter of 2017 while on a year-on-year basis it increased by 1.9 percent. The increase in global yarn output was mainly due to 31.8 percent increase in Asia.

In North and South America yarn production increased by 13 percent and 3.5 percent, respectively. Europe could not maintain its upward trend, instead showing a slight decline of 1.2 percent quarter-on-quarter in yarn production, according to the latest figures from the ITMF.

Vietnam has achieved from its garment and textile exports USD 6.84 billion in the first quarter of this year, 11.2 percent more than in the same period last year, according to the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS). First quarter figures appear to support this expectation of touching its export earnings target of over USD 30 billion set, seven percent growth over 2016.

The orders index for Italian textile machinery manufacturers grew during the first quarter of 2016, especially due to the push from Italy’s domestic market. Raffaella Carabelli, President of ACIMIT said that the recovery on the domestic market compared to the minimum recorded a year ago is highly encouraging. In foreign markets, order have instead dropped off slightly, only a few markets have performed well.
