Foundation stone was laid for the construction of a hi-tech textile training centre at Bandalli village in Yadgir district identified as one of the backward districts of the state by the Nanjundappa Committee.

The stone laying ceremony was done by the Textiles and Ports Minister as well as district in-charge Baburao Chinchansur on Saturday. On this occasion, Mr. Chinchansur said that it was because of former Union Minister Mallikarjun Kharge’s efforts that the textile training centre was coming up here.

The Textiles and Ports Minister Baburao Chinchansur on Tuesday announced that the Textile Investors Meet will be held in Bangalore on August 30, the event would be a platform for entrepreneurs to invest in the proposed textile park of international standards in Yadgir district.

The Karnataka state government has announced its ambitious new textile policy for 2013-18 and has set a target of attracting an investment of Rs 10,000 crore. It wants to make the state a preferred textile destination and create employment opportunities for over five lakh people during the five year period
