What is ASF?
ASF stands for Acrylic Staple Fibers. Among the class of synthetic fibers, acrylic fibers have the third largest share after polyester and nylon fibers. Acrylic fibers used a polymer (polyacrylonitrile) as raw material for the manufacturing process. Acrylic fibers possess a lot of properties such as softness, lightweight, durable, strong, high crease recovery, colorfastness to both washing & sunlight. Acrylic fibers have a wide range of applications in industries such as Apparel (sweaters, gloves, socks, hats, knitted underwear, etc), Household Furnishing (rugs, carpets, upholstery, blankets, cushions etc), Industrial (filter fabric, tents, sheets, awnings, alternative asbestos, boat covers, etc), etc.
The Asia-Pacific region is known to have the largest market share of acrylic staple fibers which is more than 60% of the total capacity of acrylic fibers. In this region, China holds the largest share of more than 43% of the total acrylic fibers market. Other important regions contributing to global acrylic market share are North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa, and South America.
Some of the key players operating in Global Acrylic Fibre Market are Aksa Akrilik Kimya Sanayii A.Åž., Dralon, Thai Acrylic Fiber Co.Ltd, Polymir, Taekwang Industrial Co. Ltd., Kaltex, Indian Acrylics Limited, Toray Industries, Inc., Ningbo Zhongxin Acrylic Fibers Co., Ltd, etc.
