Where is spandex produced in the world?

China is the largest producer of Spandex and accounts for about 75% of the total world production. Initially, the United States was the leading producer however the spandex manufacturing has seen this shift to China due to the cheap labour available in this Asian country. The demand for this fabric continues to increase in the future and is consumed about 84% in Asia, 9% Greater Europe and 7% America since there is no alternative available for this synthetic fiber as of now.

According to the Global Spandex Market Report 2019 published by Wood Mackenzie Chemicals, the total demand for the spandex fiber currently is about 860-kilo tonnes and is expected to exceed by 1 million tonnes by 2020.
