What are the end-uses of organic cotton?
As the people are realizing the negative impact of conventional cotton on the environment as well as humans, people have shifted their concern towards an organic way of cultivating cotton. Organic cotton which is also known as ‘green cotton, environmentally friendly cotton and bio-logical cotton’ has seen a drastic rise in its demand in the past few years. In the last few years, there have been many industries that are making products from organic cotton.
• Personal care: Sanitary products like napkins, make-up removal pads, cotton puffs, ear swabs are being made from organic cotton because it is much safer for skin than conventional cotton.
•Home furnishing: products like towels, bathrobes, sheets, blankets, bedding, beds are also being manufactured using organic cotton.
• Children’s product: The diapers and many other stuffed toys are being made out of organic cotton because organically grown cotton is safer for the skin as they avoid the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, heavy metals, chlorine, and chemicals dyes for its manufacturing.
• Apparel: Apparel made from organic cotton is gaining a lot of attention from people who are concerned about nature and the environment. Many international apparel brands like Nike, Patagonia, Levi’s, The Gap, C & A, Pact, Inditex, Boll & Branch and designers like Mara Hoffman, Eileen Fisher, Stella McCartney, etc are using certified organic cotton in their collections.
