Naphtha prices fell in Asia and Europe in the week of 18 August on weakening upstream crude prices. Naphtha was priced at about US$620 a ton CFR Japan. Given the prevailing bearish sentiment in the market prices are expected to decline further. As of 18 August, Asian open specs for naphtha were quoted US$25 a ton lower, than the previous week's close. Bids for the first half of October were at US$623 a ton CFR Japan, the asking rate being US$625 a ton.
