In China, offers for ring‐spun 30s weaving yarn in Xiaoshan declined US cents 4 a kg in the last week of March, while compact siro‐spun 40s yarn in Jiangsu was down US cents 14 a kg on the week.
Viscose spun yarn prices fell significantly during the week in China as VSF prices descended sharply during the week, amid shrinking liquidity. Rigid demand for yarn may recover somewhat after Tomb‐sweeping Day, but prices may continue to remain weak.
In Pakistan, VSF prices did not move in the week and yarn makers were confronted pressure on their margins despite the fall in raw material costs. The spread between VSF and viscose yarn 35s was still healthy at PakRs73 a kg, up PakRs3 from early March.
In India, viscose yarn prices rolled over in Ludhiana market but were dearer in US$ term due to stronger currency. 30s viscose spun knitting yarn prices in Ludhiana market were up US cent 1 a kg due to strong currency.
