In China, prices of 40s compact siro-spun yarn in Jiangsu were up US cents 5 a kg in the third week of March while 30s spun viscose in Xiaoshan rose US cents 5 a kg. Offers for ring-spun 30s yarn were at US$2.79-2.83 a kg.
Spun viscose yarn prices were hiked in China and India that week. In China, prices of vortex-spun and siro-spun yarn further moved up while prices of ring-spun and rotor-spun yarn also climbed, but actual transactions were lackluster. Core-spun yarn performance was modest.
In India, prices climbed on increased demand both in domestic and export markets. In February, export rose 11% in value terms and 4% in volume terms, implying unit value realisation increasing 7.4% during the month. Belgium, Iran and Bangladesh were the major importers of viscose yarn during the month. 30s viscose spun yarn prices were up INR2 a kg (up US cents 3, also due to strong INR) in Indore market.
In Pakistan, prices were generally flat on the week.
