In Shengze, offers for 32s and 45s polyester yarn were up in the first week of December. In Qiangqing, 32s weaving yarn was offered flat during the week. In US$ term, they were up US cents 2-6 a kg on the week, due to strong Yuan.
Spun polyester yarn offers picked up further in China driven by PSF values, and the transaction was moderate. Since there was less than one month before China’s Lunar New Year, yarn producers started arranging shutdowns for the holiday. Meanwhile, PSF prices jumped to higher levels, gaining 3% in the week.
In India, lack of cash saw almost negligible trading in polyester yarn and prices stayed stable and notional where domestic markets continued suffering from the disruption triggered by demonetisation policy. Polyester yarn 30 knit yarn prices rolled over in Indore while they were flat in Ludhiana market.
In Pakistan, PSF prices continued rising as demand from yarn producers was boosted by a large price difference between cotton and polyester. 30s spun polyester prices inched up US cent 1 a kg while 60s rolled over on the week.
