Asian paraxylene prices fell US$1 a ton CFR Taiwan/China in the second week of August while FOB Korea also edged down US$1 a ton on the week. Isomer-grade mixed xylene prices lost US$19 a ton FOB Korea during the week.
Paraxylene prices in Asia inched up on Friday but fell week on week amid weak energy cost and availability in the market. China's Fujia Dahua restarted its Dalian PX plant with a capacity of 700,000 tons per year.
Asian isomer-grade xylene prices drops for the week and despite the emergence of lower offers, buyers expressed disinterest in these offers, as market outlook remained cloudy.
In US, paraxylene market fell on the week despite a rise in feedstock mixed xylene cost. Prompt spot paraxylene were down US$10 a ton FOB USG, while spot mixed xylenes were up US cents 7 a gallon FOB USG on the week.
In Europe, spot paraxylene was stable throughout the week only to rise on weekend amid improved demand. European spot paraxylene climbed US$5 a ton FOB Rotterdam. European August contract price was fully confirmed at an increase of US$5 a ton from July.
