There has been a continuous decline in the export of 100 man-made fibre yarns in June particularly that of polyester and viscose yarns. In June, 5.57 million kg of man-made spun yarn were exported, comprising 2.58 million kg of polyester yarn, 1.83 million kg of viscose yarn and 0.90 million kg of acrylic yarn. Polyester yarn and viscose yarn exports were down by 25 per cent and 26 per cent in value respectively during the month, whereas acrylic yarn export picked up substantially by 7 per cent in May with volumes gaining 28 per cent. Unit price realization was down US cents 13 for polyester at from a year ago and that of viscose yarn was down 5 per cent. Acrylic yarn unit price realization fell 16 per cent year on year.
In June, 41 countries imported polyester spun yarns from India aggregating US$6.1 million with a unit price realization averaging US$2.34 a kg. India exported a total of 2.6 million kg, of which, 28 per cent was only to USA and Turkey. Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka were the new major markets found this June.
Viscose yarn was exported to 25 countries in June with exports valued at US$5.5 million or INR35 crore and volume at 1.83 million kg. The average unit price realization was at US$3.04 per kg, which was US cents 13 higher than realized in May and US cents 15 lesser than a year ago. India’s single largest importer of viscose yarn was Belgium with imports worth US$1.25 million followed by Turkey with imports worth US$0.90 million. Both these markets accounted for 40 per cent of all viscose yarn exported in June. Bangladesh and South Korea were the fastest growing markets for viscose yarns while Colombia and Indonesia were the new major markets in June 2015. However, nine countries did not import any viscose yarn this June, of which, United Kingdom and Peru were the major ones.
