Export of filament yarns (all types) aggregated 52 million kg in June worth US$84 million. Compared with the previous month, both were down 3.1 per cent and 4.6 per cent respectively. In June, filament yarns were exported to 82 countries. Filament yarns include polyester, nylon, polypropylene and viscose filament yarns. More than 90 per cent of all filament yarns were made of polyester, of which, DTYs were the largest at 70 per cent.
In June, 50 million kg of polyester filament yarns were exported worth US$78 million. Turkey and Brazil were the major importers of polyester filament yarns from India, followed by Bangladesh. The top three together accounted for 49 per cent of polyester filament yarn exports. Turkey was also major importer of polyester DTYs and POYs in June. This month Thailand and Japan also imported polyester industrial yarns along with South Africa.
The major importer of nylon filament yarn in June was USA with volumes at 45,000 kg worth US$0.30 million. In value terms, Sri Lanka and Japan were the other largest markets for nylon filament in June, worth US$0.40 million.
Polypropylene filament yarns were exported to 13 countries with volumes at 213,000 kg in June worth US$0.45 million. Mexico was the major importer of PP yarns mainly the multi-filament yarns. Djibouti and Germany were the other major importers of PP filament yarns in June.
Close to 1 million kg of viscose filament yarns were exported in June to 25 countries from India valued at US$4.1 million. During the month, 184,000 kg of VFYs were exported to Japan which continued as the major importer, followed by Germany and Turkey.
