Asian caprolactum prices fell US$50 a ton SE and FE in the first week of April. In China, spot liquid caprolactum offers were stable while solid goods were steady on the week.
Caprolactum markets rebounded mildly on the back of recovering benzene and bargain hunting activities. However, prices were resilient to the firmness in raw material seeing stagnant downstream demand.
Sinopec reduced its April nomination for liquid goods while Fibrant’s rolled over. Offer for East European and Japanese goods, however, softened, reflecting the fall in benzene in the past couple of weeks. Run rates of polymerization units were at 60% while yarn makers running lower than 60%, with inventory at 30 days’ worth.
