Asian caprolactum markers, the SE and FE were flat in the third week of August while selling indications for high end Japanese goods surged on the week. In China, offers for liquid spot were stable while solid goods offers rose during the week.
Sinopec August contract price nomination was raised to 11,700 Yuan a ton (US$1,770 a ton) for liquid goods while Fibrant’s August contract was at 11,800 Yuan a ton (US$1,780 a ton) for liquid goods.
Caprolactum prices remained firm on back of surge in raw material benzene cost amid slow demand. In China, liquid goods offers rolled over while mainstream values for low‐end solid goods were up. Offers from Japan surged, however.
Sinopec and Fibrant Chemical raised their August contract nomination. Demand was slow as run rates at polymerization units were down to 60% and inventory was still low at 4 days’ worth. Yarn makers cut rate to 60% with inventory at 28 days’ worth.
