Asian caprolactum prices were up US$20 a ton SE and FE markers at the lower end in the first week of February. The Northeast Asia caprolactum January contract prices rose US$200-540 a ton from December contract values. European January caprolactum contract price settled at increases of US$220-250 a ton.
Caprolactum markets in Asia were supported by firm feedstock prices and 10.7-37.5% hike in January contract values, following the spurt in benzene values and increasingly bullish market. In China, offers were hiked and some suppliers were unwilling to sell below that level which turned trading sentiment mute.
European January caprolactum contract price settled at an increase on higher feedstock costs and strong demand. Meanwhile, focus had already turned to February nominations.
