In China, medium-length staple fiber prices were stable while cotton-type staple rolled over in the last week of January.
Jilin Chemical Fiber maintained its list prices for January with 1.5D and 3D medium-length at US$2.00-2.01 a kg, while tow was at US$2.09 a kg and top at US$2.24 a kg.
Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow prices rolled over at US$1.60-1.70 a kg while offers for regular products were partially at US$1.56-1.60 a kg in China.
Acrylic staple fibre prices rolled over in Asian markets that week. In China, offers were maintained stable despite upstream acrylonitrile prices were up moderately. Thus, pressure on margin of ASF producers was tolerable.
Demand was modest at low ASF prices and downstream yarn prices changed little, but due to the upcoming Spring Festival, terminal demand was soft.
In India, liquidity for staple fiber was fair, and that of tow and top was stable. Mainstream producers rolled over offers, while downstream buyers maintained hand-to-mouth procurement.
In Pakistan, 1.2D ASF prices remained unchanged during the week.
