In China, medium-length staple fiber and cotton-type staple prices rolled over in the fourth week of August. Sinopec released August settlement prices for 1.5D ASF pegged at 12.60-12.70 Yuan a kg (US$1.90-1.91 a kg) and 3D tow at 12.90-13.00 Yuan a kg (US$1.94-1.96 a kg, down US cents 3 on the upper end).
Acrylic staple fibre markets were stable and quiet that week, seeing some producers in China announce monthly settlement prices. Liquidity was stable amid thin trading sentiment as downstream yarn makers showed limited buying interest given mute overall performance.
In India, ASF prices rolled over as yarn makers were not interested in production due to slow liquidity, and thus just maintained cautious inventory.
ASF was cheaper in Pakistan but the market was termed modest under insipid demand. 1.2D ASF prices fell PakRs2 a kg (down US cents 2) on the week.
