In China, medium-length staple fiber and cotton-type staple prices were steady in the second week of April. Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow prices were at US$1.55-1.65 a kg while offers for regular products were at US$1.50-1.55 a kg, with negotiable firm deals. Sinopec issued list prices flat for April.
Acrylic staple fibre prices continued to remain sticky despite two consecutive weeks of rise in upstream acrylonitrile prices. It is apparent that ASF markets lack substantial supports. In China, trading atmosphere was modest, seeing producers liquidate volumes at prevailing prices.
Imports discussions thinned following the implementation of antidumping measures under preliminary ruling on imports originating from Japan, South Korea and Turkey. Downstream yarn sentiment was insipid in April.
In India and Pakistan, ASF prices rolled over for lack of boost from downstream yarn sector and export markets.
