In China, medium-length staple fiber and cotton-type staple prices remained unchanged in the second week of August. Many yarn and fabric makers in Zhejiang will remain close for G20 Summit. Thus, demand for ASF will remain soft.
Sinopec released settlement prices for July for 1.5D ASF unchanged at 12.60-12.70 Yuan a kg (US$1.89-1.91 a kg) and 3D tow at 12.90-13.20 Yuan a kg (US$1.94-1.98 a kg). Offers for Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow was at US$1.55-1.65 a kg while regular specs was at US$1.50-1.55 a kg, both rolling over on the week.
Acrylic staple fibre markets were calm and prices remained range bound despite the jump in acrylonitrile cost in recent weeks. Due to the influence from summer and overall sentiment, downstream yarn and fabric makers lowered run rates amid thin order intakes. Thus, trading atmosphere was subdued.
In India, ASF prices rolled over on firmer cost while the same in Pakistan remained unchanged on the week.
