Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow offers were flat at US$1.55-1.65 a kg while offers for regular products rolled over on the week. In China, medium-length staple fiber and cotton-type staple prices remained unchanged on the week in Yuan terms but down US cent 1 a kg, due to weak Yuan.
Acrylic staple fibre prices were kept stable in China and India seeing producers maintained unchanged offers. Upstream, acrylonitrile prices rose, providing cost support to ASF markets. Downstream buying interest remained subdued, as yarn and fabric sales were dismal due to slack season.
In China, production cutbacks were sustained while Anqing Petrochemical is expected to begin the long maintenance next week, leading lesser availability. Downstream sentiment, on the other hand, remained insipid, and thus demand remained thin.
In Pakistan, ASF prices were seen rising on increased cost and after a long period stability since early April. 1.2D ASF prices were up US cents 2 a kg on the week.
In India, ASF offers rolled over during the week.
