In China, offers for cotton-type staple fiber were steady at US$1.95-2.07 a kg in the second week of November while medium-length staple were at US$1.96-2.07 a kg.
Jilin Chemical Fiber’s list prices for November was stable with 1.5D at US$2.07 a kg, 3D medium-length at US$2.06 a kg, tow at US$2.14 a kg and top at US$2.28 a kg.
Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow prices were pegged at US$1.65-1.80 a kg.
Acrylic staple fibre prices generally rolled over as upstream, acrylonitrile prices continued to rise on the back of tight supply.
Downstream, yarn makers were still buying hand to mouth volume due to lackluster terminal demand. In China, major ASF producers maintained stable offers.
Overall, trading sentiment was lackluster, but inventory changed little due to production cutbacks at some producers.
Prices in India and Pakistan also rolled over but downstream buyers expressed low interest, with cautious sentiment due to weak outlook.
