Acrylonitrile (ACN) prices in Asian markets saw mixed trends in the second week of February with prices in Far East Asia declining while that in South East surged during the week. In the US, acrylonitrile export prices were kept firm that week while unexpected supply disruptions are expected to push the prices up in the first quarter of 2019.
Propylene prices in Asia slipped that week on thin trading activity post-holiday and markets are expected to remain sluggish until March. In the US, spot propylene prices softened on the back of increasing supply during the week. In Europe, spot propylene prices fell that week.
Acrylic staple fibre prices were stable in the Asian markets during the week. In China, ASF offers were were pegged at the same level since several weeks after revising down in late December. The prices were supported by range-bound ACN cost during the month. Prices in India and Pakistan were unchanged in the week.
