Acrylic staple fibre price rolls over in Asian market

YarnsandFibers News Bureau, 10-09-2015 15:56 -

Acrylic staple fibre prices rolled over in the last week of August across markets despite upstream acrylonitrile prices tumbling further. In China, producers rolled over their offers for September, aiming to support the sentiment since downstream yarn prices were stable. However, overall liquidity was meager.

Thus, buying was of ASF was on need-to basis, amid thick wait-and-see stance. The further downslide of ACN prices led to a wider gap with acrylic fiber prices. On the other hand, downstream demand saw little improvements with most mills adopting cautious stance, so liquidity at acrylic fiber producers slowed down.

In China, cotton-type staple fiber prices rolled over on the week. Thai Acrylic Fiber quoted 3D tow at US$2.22 a kg. Taiwan’s Tong-Hwa offered 3D bright tow at US$2.40 a kg and 3D anti-pilling fiber tow at US$2.46 a kg CIF Shanghai while offers for Japan-origin flat fiber were at US$3.30 a kg.

In Pakistan, 1.2D ASF prices were steady in its domestic currency, however, it was down US cents 6 due to weak currency.

In India, ASF was down US cent 1 due to weak INR.
