In the fourth week of September, offers for cotton-type staple fiber fell US cents 25 a kg in China while medium-length staple was down US cents 27 a kg. Taiwan origin 3D bright tow offer declined US cents 10 a kg.
Jilin Chemical Fiber’s list prices for September was flat at August with 1.5D at US$2.46 a kg, 3D medium-length at US$2.45 a kg, tow at US$2.53 a kg and top at US$2.67 a kg.
The downtrend in acrylonitrile cost eased somewhat on the week, while acrylic fibre producers cut offers significantly, leading to narrower price gap between input and output. Thus, downstream anxious mood was relieved and enquiring atmosphere emerged.
In China, mainstream producers cut monthly settlements. In downstream yarn sector, yarn prices were stable, and mills showed better appetite on falling raw material prices. However, domestic prices fell below the imported material following the hefty price cuts by majors.
Prices in India rolled over while Taiwan origin ASF was pegged stable at previous week’s level. In India, ASF offers were flat, after revision in the second week, down US cent 1 a kg due to stronger INR.
In Pakistan, 1.2D ASF prices were stable on the week.
