London-based B-Corp Ananas Anam, has partnered with Zara, to launch a range of shoes, sandals, and accessories using Piñatex, the company's next-generation pineapple leather, PIÑATEX®.
"Anything can be done," according to Anas Anam, "as long as all the players in the fashion business work together for the same objective." In order to improve the plant-based component in their goods and raise overall sustainability, Piñatex will collaborate with Zara and other fashion businesses. The company claims to be the most sustainable plant-based alternative to leather available on a commercial scale.
Anas Anam announced their first fashion collaboration with fast-fashion giant, Zara after a lengthy list of other partnerships. The line includes a variety of Piñatex-made shoes, sandals, and accessories for men, women, and kids.
In place of leather, several of the colors from Piñatexoriginal ®'s palette are employed to create shoe model uppers. The bags also make use of the PiñatexX® Original line, which is highlighted with Piñatex® Metallic Silver. 72% of the Piñatex® basic and metal collections are made up of pineapple leaf fiber (PALF), an agricultural waste product that doesn't need more land, water, or chemicals to thrive.
The PINATEX x ZARA SA collection was introduced as a component of ZARA's Sustainability Innovation Hub, a platform for working with forward-thinking fashion manufacturers to support programs that help create a more sustainable product environment.
As a by-product of the pineapple harvest, pineapple leaves' fibers are what give PINATEX® its distinctiveness. Since no resources were used in the production of the raw materials, PINATEX® is the most environmentally friendly substitute for leather currently on the market. Scale.
