Zara, Circ partner for collection featuring textile waste

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2024-08-16 16:37:17 – Spain

Zara has unveiled its latest women's collection in collaboration with Circ, a US-based fashion technology company specializing in textile recycling. The collection highlights garments made with Circ Lyocell, a fabric that replicates the luxurious feel of silk, derived from 50% recycled textile waste.

The current collection includes four minimalist pieces made exclusively from 100% Circ Lyocell. Designed by Zara’s team, these garments showcase a clean, natural aesthetic, demonstrating how Circ’s sustainable materials can be seamlessly integrated into timeless fashion designs. The collection will be available starting August 15 in the US and select markets.

Circ's innovative recycling technology addresses the challenge of breaking down "polycotton" blends—once a major obstacle to recycling textile waste into new fibers. As the only market-ready solution that successfully separates polycotton blends and recovers both cellulosic and synthetic fibers, Circ is pioneering a new approach to circular fashion.

Zara and Circ’s ongoing partnership, which began with an investment from Inditex in 2023, underscores the importance of scaling sustainable solutions in the fashion industry. “For us, success is when circularity is the default, with no compromise on quality or design,” said Peter Majeranowski, CEO of Circ. “This collection with Zara demonstrates Circ’s product quality and reinforces the long-term potential for both companies to advance product circularity industry-wide.”
