Zalando, Europe’s leading online fashion platform, has announced ISO.Poetism By Tobias Birk Nielsen as the winner of its third Zalando Sustainability Award in partnership with Copenhagen Fashion Week. The award encourages fashion firms to experiment with new design and production methods in order to contribute to a more sustainable industry.
This is the third season of a three-year strategic partnership between Zalando and Copenhagen Fashion Week. The Zalando Sustainability Award encourages fashion firms to investigate sustainable alternatives and recognizes actions that contribute to a more sustainable industry.
The collection shown at Copenhagen Fashion Week, according to the jury, exemplified the brand’s principle of recycling whenever feasible. ISO.Poetism By Tobias Birk Nielsen will receive a €20,000 reward and a collaboration with Zalando to create an exclusive collection that will leverage more sustainable design solutions spanning materials, production processes, technological solutions, and traceability. According to a press statement, Zalando will make most of the AW22 collection seen at Copenhagen Fashion Week available to its more than 46 million clients across 23 European regions.
Sara Diez, VP category women and private labels at Zalando, said that how they blended fashion credibility with sustainability and ISO was one of the primary criteria in picking the winner of the Sustainability Award. Poetism Tobias Birk Nielsen truly hit the nail on the head with their inventive fabric choices, which exhibited a contemporary urban style on the runway. They want to use their platform’s power to build more sustainable options for their customers, and it’s exciting to see how many brands want to join them in this quest. Being a part of the Zalando Sustainability Award has been a priceless learning experience. Until now, they’ve made sustainable decisions as part of a natural and logical process, focusing on how to implement them internally in everything from the design process to our logistical stages. However, being a part of this has pushed us to begin programming our sustainable ways, as well as disseminating and promoting them and our sustainable ideas not only within, but also outside of their tiny busy work bubble.
Nielsen added that winning this award has further fueled their desire to continue on this path, as well as to pursue an even more ambitious and long-term vision for the brand. Despite the various projects they are working on top of this period with this AW22 show and the award, everyone in his little team has made an incredible effort to make this happen, so he is genuinely grateful and proud of what they have achieved together.
The judges also recognized the runners-up, Fassbender and Tomorrow Denim, as remarkable examples of brands that inspire and incorporate sustainability throughout the entire supply chain while generating well-constructed fashion products that are wardrobe heroes.
The collections of the Zalando Sustainability Award finalists were shown at Copenhagen Fashion Week’s Nikolaj Kunsthal venue, mostly as a digital exhibition, with a small number of visitors in attendance. When preparing for the event, all social distancing and safety precautions required in the context of the ongoing health pandemic were observed. The collections were also on display at the Zalando Greenhouse, a digital showroom that lets customers all around the world to discover the products and watch the live shows.
