YKK Corporation has developed the AquaGuard NATULON zipper, which is environmentally friendly and water-resistant.

The newly developed zipper, which has a tape made of recycled PET plastic instead of the previous version of the AquaGuard zipper, which had a polyurethane laminated water-repellent tape, has been gradually replacing the conventional water-repellent AquaGuard zipper for about a year, according to YKK.

In addition to employing recycled PET tape and a fluorine-free water repellant in the recently created AquaGuard NATULON zippers, YKK also made improvements to the zipper's operability (ability to open and close) and look.

Hisashi Yoneshima, Vice President, Product Strategy & Development Division, Global Sales Division of YKK, said that the AquaGuard NATULON zipper satisfies their customers' earlier requests for a switch to green requirements as well as for improved operability. The zipper has been revived into one that may be utilized with even less fear, and its aesthetic has also been improved. YKK will continue to work to improve the functionality of its fastening products while encouraging the creation of goods that are environmentally responsible and will help to build a sustainable society.
